Resurgence

We are thrilled to announce Resurgence, an exclusive film screening and multidisciplinary creative evening celebrating the work of Ugandan designer Katende Godfrey and marking the UK premiere of Resurgence of Lubugo — a new documentary following his work creating sustainable Afro-futuristic designs through his Ugandan based platform IGC.

Produced in collaboration with IGC, Resurgence of Lubugo traces Katende’s journey of reclaiming Lubugo (a traditional Ugandan barkcloth) and fusing it with upcycled materials, hip-hop culture, and radical approaches to sustainable design. This portrait style documentary is a call to reimagine the future of fashion through ecological care, collaboration, and community.

The evening will present a site-specific movement performance by Seyi Adelekun. Offering a live, embodied response to the film’s themes of memory, resilience, and transformation.

Throughout the venue, a selection of Katende’s barkcloth garments will be on display, transforming the space into a live gallery where design, film, and performance converge.

A conversation and Q&A with Katende and the film director Hannah Allchurch will invite audiences into an intimate conversation on creative process, material innovation, and sustainable fashion futures.

The evening will close with a DJ set inspired by sounds from the African continent and its diaspora.
